First Encounter with the Farm

Jun 1974

At 22, I discovered an old farm in the northern Adirondack Mountains, once a food supplier for The Sylvan Falls Hotel and nearby logging camps. After a long, bumpy five-mile ride on Sylvan Falls Road, I arrived at what would become my home. A peaceful hush fell over the evening, interrupted only by the chime of metal beaters swaying in the wind—my first unforgettable encounter with this farm.

Life at the Farm Begins

Aug 1974

Without electricity, the farm was a challenge, yet it energized me. Over the next 30 years, my husband Lou and I dedicated ourselves to bringing the farm back to life—renovating the farmhouse, raising our family, tending animals, and growing our businesses. The farm had waited patiently to be revived, and so we labored through seasons of work, always with love.
